Went today to get some practice in for our club tournament in a couple weeks, and I didn't learn a thing. Not one bite, nibble, chew. notta. Was a beautiful day though other than fighting the wind. I've only been on this like 4 times, and twice now i have been skunked with the other two times unable to get a 5 fish limit. What is it with this lake? lol. I threw a Jerkbait on about every point i could think of, bluff ends, timber with no results, Also threw an Alabama Rig, and a jig. I tried flipping a few docks as well. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Brandon,

Misery loves company... I fished for about 6 hours this weekend with 1 13" fish to show for it.

The fact that they are dropping the lake is what I attribute the slow fishing to.

Great weekend to be on the water.

As small as the the lake is I'll be running all over it. We're taking off at Lightfoot though

As my dad used to tell me, "You aren't going to catch any fish running up and own the lake all day." Yeah I didn't pay any attention to him either.

But this time of the year you can catch all the fish you need between Lightfoot and Bolivar landing. They aren't biting any better on the other side of the lake you just have to figure out where they like to eat. There are a lot of spots that hold good fish all the time in that section, and there are a lot of spots that don't. Secondary points are going to be way better than any main lake stuff. Jerkbaits, crankbaits and a jig should get you a pretty good sack. Look for the sweet spots, the holes, the ditches. That's where they will be. This lake will not fish like the clear water lakes, it's a completely different experience.

Lol well i guess what I meant was I don't mind running to the other end if need be. I'm going again Wednesday if i can get my new trolling motor on so hopefully I can figure something out. I appreciate the input. I think that's part of my problem is I am trying to fish it like Stockton which is where my confidence is.

this is good advice. many times in winter you can pick a smaller cove and start at the beginning of one side and just fish all the way around it until you find some fish. then try to duplicate on other areas. Also don't forget the A-rig. It works well on pomme.
