Bass Enforcer Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Hi guys. I got to go out today on table rock. I didn't get started until 11 or so. Don't laugh.... but I only caught 5. All kentuckies. I sat in 30 fow and caught in 20 fow. Chunk rock banks. What I did learn and see today while just "trolling along the bank" is,there were several (said excitedly) up on the bank! Maybe four feet of water. I observed all of these shallow water fish within my last 15 mins before I got off the water. I am going back out tomorrow morning. I'll start with swimming a grub or a rig along bluff walls and move to shallower water around 1 or so. Good luck to everybody. Lower lake 45 to 46 degree water. Good luck tomorrow.
SplitG2 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Enforcer, Good report. Not laughing here. That's 5 more than I caught staying in town. Looking forward to your Sunday report.
magicwormman Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Thanks for the report Enforcer!! I think it's common for the bass to move shallow on some of the real warm days this time of year. I used to call it a false spawning run, as I couldn't understand why fish would be in four feet of water in Feb. I think they just seek the warmer water to thaw out and get those eggs ready. These fish are catchable, but from my experience; you have to think finesse and slow. Yes, the NED is not a bad choice.
Bass Enforcer Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Ok. My Sunday fishing is over. "Thank God" I was only able to fish a couple of hours and no fish for me. My buddy did catch one Kentucky on a grub. I wish I had more to offer. Sorry.
pstone Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Took my 82 year old Dad out Saturday and put in at Aunt's Creek about 9:00. Fished till about 1:00 and we caught 6 total- 4 keepers. My Dad caught 5 of them and had 3 nice keepers- 2 largemouth and 1 Kentucky- I had 1 keeper LM. Used smoke grubs mostly and were fishing out deep in 40-50 fow, mostly vertical fishing trying to locate trees and fish on the graph. We caught a couple near the mouth of Aunts Creek, went up to Jackson Hollow and finished up near point 11. Great day to be out and my Dad had a good time. I tried the jerk bait some but got nothing. Dropped a spoon also, fished the ned rig some- just couldn't get bit. Water temp. was 43 when we started and 48 when we left. All in all, still a good day to be outdoors with my Dad.
