J-Doc Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I was at Monte Ne this morning too, birds were working, but nothing like in the video. Wind blew us out of the arm, and we caught a few Kentucky's on the SE side of the cut at Horeshoe bend. I was in the red alum. Ranger. Zeroed myself. The wind made it difficult to stay with them and when younwpuld get near the birds they would break up. Had one hook up but snapped my line before I could get back there and grab the rod. Took hook and some line with a VERY low drag setting so it wasn't a snag. I thought it was a snag at first but the head shakes were plunging the rod tip. Found some later just before noon on side scan and marked a point. Went back to them and tried jigging spoon and bucktail but they wouldn't bite. Right below my boat I'm 23ft. Wouldn't bite. Nothing else on live bait either. Wind pushed them down and they wanted it what they were following. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Dan the fisherman Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 thats some tuff fishing J-doc. Well they'll be that much more rewarding when someone lands one. Well at least for me. I've really been struggling the last few weeks.
JohnF52 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Dan, I have struggled as a fisherman my entire life. Sometimes I wonder why I still enjoy it. Most trips skunked, or nearly so.
Dan the fisherman Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Beaver is a tough lake John. I actually learned to bass fish in bella vista lakes. Then I came into rogers and started fishing beaver... U can't imagine the shock I had when I realized I had no clue how to "really" fish lol.
JohnF52 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I fish other places too, with similar results.
Feathers and Fins Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 Beaver is the toughest lake I ever fished, but once you start paying attention the smallest of details all of the sudden you start seeing patterns based on them. Learning the right birds to follow or the right size bait schools to target and depth or contour it all starts coming together but it takes time and tenacity like a bulldog not letting it frustrate you. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
wc1063 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Got blanked here, too. Was out there from 2 to 5 PM. Had to change out a rotted bunk board, so mission accomplished.
wc1063 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Beside not catchin a thing and way too windy, it was a beautiful day to be out!!!
