Quillback Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Maybe Maclin will give the Chiefs that down field play maker they have been lacking. Also makes me wonder if this means adios to Dwayne Bowe.
bs1827 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I'm pumped that the Chiefs signed Maclin! I think he'll be a great addition to our offense. I like Bowe because he's a a big-bodied, powerhouse receiver. He's a descent blocker for a receiver, and due to his reputation tends to draw double coverage. That being said, our receivers have not produced very good numbers that past couple of seasons- including Bowe. I realize Alex Smith is a lot more conservative and protective of the football than our previous QB's, but there's no excuse for not having a single touchdown from a WR. I think if Bowe is a team player he should take a pay cut to make room for better receivers- not likely to happen IMO. I wouldn't be surprised to the see the Chiefs let him go.

Bowe is going to be gone. I like him as much as anyone but his skill set doesn't fit with what I think AR wants to do. Plus I think the fans reputation of him precedes what D Coordinators think of him any more. I read some studies on him, and he didn't pull double coverage hardly, if at all, any more than any other receiver on the roster. Hudson going to the raiders sucks, but he is now the highest paid center in the league (by contract, not including bonuses) and there is no way we could afford to do that. Cap situation is looking GREAT going into next year so they need to lockup/extend Poe NOW. I know they are also linked to Revis right now as well, and I would love to see that happen, but it's all about how they can configure those contracts to work with the cap. I'd like to see them get something done with Houston, but I think honestly after this year he is going to be gone. With the Maclin signing I see us going ILB in the first now instead of a receiver and picking a receiver in the second, but who knows.
Quillback Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Looking at the mock drafts, the prognosticators seem to think the Chiefs will draft a safety #1. Case being that it looks unlikely Eric Berry will ever be able to play again.
joeD Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Jeremy Maclin is a reliable stud. Plus, he already knows Andy Reid and his offense, so there shouldn't be any learning curve. KC should have a darn good offense this year. Go Rams. Yay! Never mind.
BATCAB27 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Maclin will provide a deep threat for the chiefs. Unfortuantely the Oline can't block anybody long enough for him to get there. They have got to find some Oline help either thru free agency or the draft. as good as Maclin is, he isn't the solution to the chiefs WR woes all by himself. They really need another quality wr to put on the other side of the field. They have a bunch of draft picks, and could probably find a way to move up and land Amari Cooper, but at what cost? Those picks they have to give up may be 2 0r 3 lineman that they can't afford to miss out on. Then there is Dorial...oh lord. The second I heard they were signing Maclin it made me think they were going after DGB. He and maclin already have a relationship from the recruitment of DGB to Mizzou. Maclin was adopted at a young age into a football family just like DGB. You couldn't draw up a better mentor for Dorial. we will see what happens I guess. I am still a firm believer that defense wins in Kansas City. And SS Landon Collins from Bama would probably be my ideal first pick for the chiefs. bs1827 1
Quillback Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 It sure will be interesting to see where DGB goes in the draft. Could be late 1st round.
