Members Flyfishing Buddha Posted April 3, 2006 Members Posted April 3, 2006 lilly, The cam is awesome. Just had a chance to really look. Only had a chance to look at night up till now. The fish are amazing. We want to get down this summer and do some fishing and relaxing. Any suggestions on a good resort to stay at? I really enjoy the forum and meeting new friends. Sean
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 5, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted April 5, 2006 Just sunk a bunch of brush just to the right of the camera view today. I've never attempted attracting fish with brush under the dock because they always ran water, thinking it would blow it out. But since they are not running water, and we are seeing more and more blue gill and bass around the dock, we'll see if they start hanging around the cam.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 10, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted April 10, 2006 Hey guys- We just had Cox replace some bad cable feeding our modem so we may be able to accommodate more people on the Trout Cam. Check it out. Water is very cloudy. Been seeing some big blue gill, crappie and bass in the brush but not yet in the camera. Take it back- just saw a largemouth bass.
Snow Fly Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Phil: This date the trout cam is working great! Larry "God gave fishermen expectancy, so they would never tire of throwing out a line"
Members GregSTC Posted April 18, 2006 Members Posted April 18, 2006 This is one of the best web cams I've ever seen. Found it last week and another half dozen guys are already checking out. Couple of question. How big are the trout that are generally in view? And would it be possible to put something in the frame to give a reference of size? Again it is fantastic!!! GregSTL
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 18, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted April 18, 2006 I try to keep the camera showing part of the bottom to give some comparison but it's hard to keep it in one place. The water is very cloudy and dark the last couple of days for some reason. If we get some new water (generation) the water should become gin clear. Most of the trout are 12-13 inches but there are several 2-3 pounders down there. We have had some as large as 6-9 pounds. Some bass and suckers.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 19, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted April 19, 2006 Hey- for those who can see the cam- right now I'm seeing a bunch of what looks to be larva so a small bug swimming upwards in front of the camera- tons of them. May be a water bug- hard to tell. But the fish aren't paying any attention to them- even the chubs- yet. First time I've seen any kind of action like this.
Members GregSTC Posted April 20, 2006 Members Posted April 20, 2006 How deep is the water were the camera is located? GregSTC
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 3, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted May 3, 2006 The lake has cleared up but the images may seem dark. The west side of the dock is in the shade till afternoon... but the later in the evening the sun really brightens it up. We've noticed since the rains and muddy water alot of trout moved out but as of this morning some have come back. The 11 pound rainbow that was caught over the weekend was certainly the fish trout we'd been watching under the dock for a month or two. But this morning I've seen a couple in the 3-4 pound range. Lots of creek chubs in the afternoon- cool to watch.
