moguy1973 Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I tried out the Ned Rig this weekend for the first time and I'm a believer. It can catch some fish in less than ideal situations. I used it in a private lake and pond and it was getting them to bite when nothing else would, today especially. Worked well, even when the bottom of both bodies of water had the start of some nasty slimy moss starting to grow. The fish didn't really care. Got about 10 or so to bite today alone, nothing to write home about but these lakes don't really have any monsters in them (4lb is the biggest bass I've caught). My only question is it typical for the Zinker to tear up the middle of it where the hook shank goes through it? I used gel super glue to hold it to the head (I was using both the Zman Ned heads and the BPS shroom heads) and it seemed the hook liked to tear right up through the worm. It didn't seem to matter much to the fish but it did allow the hook to be more exposed which seemed to cause me more hang ups than if it remained in the hook. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

That is one of the drawbacks to a head with a collar or a keeper. They hold up much better on a plain shank head. Better, as in usually north of 25-50 fish per body. Plain shank causes less damage going in, and less damage as you fish it. At times brown fish and spots will chew them to pieces. When they are really on craws I have a hard time getting one bait into the 30 fish range. They will just hold it and grind it up. Blacks tend not to do that as much.
