Members Thunderchicken Posted March 20, 2015 Members Posted March 20, 2015 Where is Hulston bridge at? Had the day off and I have to work all weekend. So I went today. Started at the old bridge and rock bank just down from Aldrich. Nothing , but there was a few guys catching some small channel cats. Left there and went to the steal bridge. Not even a bite there. Talked to two other guys who had the same kinda luck. Move on up to Taylor bridge there was one guy in a canoe who had a limit. So I walked back down to the rock bank. Wound up catching 5 really nice ones pretty quick. And then nothing. Won't get to go again till Monday. But I will be watching what everyone else is do. Thanks in advance. Hope by Monday it will be better.
Members ehertz2 Posted March 20, 2015 Members Posted March 20, 2015 Getting ready to head out now. After that report thunderchicken I will probably head over to Taylor with the canoe and see what's happening. Do you know If the guy in the canoe caught above or below bridge?

hknfsh Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Taking my dad ( hes 80 )out in the boat to catch whites. He's never caught one so I want to up his chances. Any suggestions ? Stacy Jordan 1
Members Thunderchicken Posted March 20, 2015 Members Posted March 20, 2015 Sorry it's taking me so long to respond ehertz2. He came from down stream. I didn't talk to him so I really don't know where he caught them. But the few I caught were in deep holes of water that didn't have any current. If anything they were in pockets that had a back current to it and right on the bottom. Hopefully the warm up this weekend will bring a lot more fish up. Thanks for the information Stacy Jordan . Last year was the first time I had ever fished that side of the lake and that was just around the 160 bridge. I actually live in Marshfield so it's an hour drive to any lake so when I go I make a day of it and hit hard.
jbooth24 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Thunderchicken Ant there a pay pound out in marshfield. I know there is one in diggins and hartville.someone told me there was one in marshfield also didn't know if it was true or not
Members ehertz2 Posted March 21, 2015 Members Posted March 21, 2015 We started out at Taylor and noticed two old guys across the river that obviously had a few fish in five gallon buckets. They were far enough away that I didn't get a chance to talk to them. We caught a small Kentucky just above the bridge but no whites. We then moved down to the iron bridge. Two guys there had caught a few whites and crappie over on the lake side boat ramp. I think they were using minnows but were pretty tight lipped. We put in the canoe and fished almost all the way up to Taylor. Not a bite! Saw another guy coming down from Taylor and he had nothing as well. We then floated back down and got to the rocky area about 1/2 mile upstream from iron bridge and I caught a small white and a nice smallmouth. The other guy we had met earlier also caught a nice white by the bridge. This was about 2 or so and it was warming up by then. Pretty slow still. Heading to the Buffalo river tomorrow morning for some floating/ fishing. Good luck out there!
