Quillback
Yep, 917-919 gets the big rods going. If they are pulling it hard now might be a good time to throw big cranks and a-rigs at long points and islands, as in 2012. There is still a very solid finesse bite, even in the water with color, at least from the pics and videos that have been sent my way. I can believe it, looks like I'll be out there tomorrow. GNSfishing
It was a fish catching day on the James below Cape Fair Marina. My son and I put in around 12:30 pm and fished till 5:30 pm. We caught 25 to 30 blacks with over half of them were good 2-1/2 to 3 lb keepers one after another. They were a mix of Kentucky's, small mouth, & largemouth, we used a small swim bait with a 1/4 - 1/8 oz ball and darter head jigs in about 10 to 15 ft of water just touching the bottom and falling into the channel. We kept the boat in 50 to 60 ft on main lake points next to the river channel. The surface temp 48 to 50 degs with a very slight color in the water. The fishing and catching was great this afternoon.. Macsimus, Sac River Jim and Quillback
