Guest Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 That Nutech hair jig looks sweet! Uncle josh #11 brown crawdad has caught 100's of cold water bass for me. 2 things, don't let them dry out & thread a short chunk of plastic worm onto the hook shank. This prevents it from spinning around & fouling the hook when bass inhale it. I've lost some of the biggest bass of the year, bc the pork chunk was wrapped over the hook point. The plastic shim fixed that problem. Pork has the texture of a soft shell craw. Fish seem to hang onto them. Plus the fall rate. We use a black jumbo #1 pork frog in shallow dirty water. It slows the fall rate of a 3/8oz jig in half.
J-Doc Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Over the hook point with worm chunk? Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
dtrs5kprs Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Over the hook point with worm chunk? No. Thread the piece of worm on like a grub, from the back of the head to about where the hook bend starts. Can use different colors to contrast the skirt, or pieces of power worm (or other scented bait) to add scent.
J-Doc Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Okay I thought that initially and that makes sense. The other did not. :-) Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. Guest Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I used to collect the ends of my twin tail grubs, so I could recycle the plastic chunk onto the hook shank itself, the pork rides in the bend of the hook,
