Leonard Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I got there just after 7pm and we fished till just after 10pm.. and he was already in the water.. well he walk up to the van with me.. I had to gear up.. and he had to tye on a new tippet... back on the water.. I started with a midge and scud dropper... 1 fish he started with a midge and an egg.. more fish then me.. about 5 so I changed over to an egg also.. we stood in chute 2 for almost an hour and a half.. probably caught 20-25 fish "EACH"... got bored with that.. and went to chute 1.. first cast out.. fish on.. still with the midge and egg dropper well we didnt do as good in 1 as we did in chute 2.. but we total out maybe 9-12 each there also... moved back down to 2.. caught more.. by this time we lost count it was a good night.. it seemed to us they shut down a generator tonight... the water dropped down enough to expose the big rock below the stairs at chute 2 average fish for the night were between 15-17.. maybe an 18 or 2.. we had fun.. and it was great fishing... Ducky... we need to do it again.. soon Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com

duckydoty Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Leonard, Thanks for callin and gettin me out of the house. You were right, Taney is a good cure for the flu I feel 100% better now----except my sore arm from horsing in so many fish 3x tippet sure made a difference in not loosing flies. I'm a definate believer that the fish can not see the thicker line at night. There were multiple times where we would catch fish on every drift, 4 and 5 drifts in a row. Members Conehead Posted January 23, 2007 Members Posted January 23, 2007 I hope you guys can do it again. I plan on being there Thursday afternoon. Duckydoty, after reading the generation reports, I thought I might be wasting my time fishing Taney, but you have the magic touch. If Taney does not work out, I can always hit Roaring River. Good memories from that place. Let's see egg flies, zebra midges, (larger than usual) and, oh yeah, Hershey’s chocolate (for Mrs. Duckydoty). "Here's your candy Mrs. Doty. Can Ducky come out and play? Conehead George
duckydoty Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 George, I got the OK on Sat and Sunday already. Glen will be coming down Sat. evening. Dont let a little extra water scare ya, Them fish are already wet I might be able to make a run for a little while on Thursday. Got to be extra nice to the wife to pull that one off. She's a sucker for chocolate Duckydoty A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Seth Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Hey Leonard and Ducky, did you guys talk to a guy named Darryl Grubaugh while you were fishing? He is one of my buddies dads and he went down there last night and stayed till this evening trout fishing. He was telling me about two guys fishing a midge and egg combo and tearing the fish up at outlet 2. I told him I thought it was you two.
Leonard Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 LOL... yes... It was kinda funny... a guy walks down the steps.. and I thought he had a rod with him.. he had a LED light on.. and I was ready to move over to let him toss a few time.. turn my head again he was gone... I think he stood they for a good 15-20 minutes watching us.. we had probably hooked up a dozen fish the time he was there http://www.taneycomonights.com
duckydoty Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Seth, Tell him to bring his rod down and fish next time. I showed him the secret combo Duckydoty A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Seth Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Yea, he said he was just watching the show. He told me that you were using a big size 10 midge and egg. I was shocked when he said size 10. Thats a good size fly. His son goes to school at Evangel there in Springfield and I'm gonna come down and stay with him one weekend and get in a bunch of trout fishing. Maybe I can come get some more night fishing lessons and get some donated flies from Leonard.
