Sac River Jim Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Monday morning started out excellent for myself and my friend Dave from Greenfield. We put 5 nice keeper bass in the boat on the jerker in the first 30mins. The sun was just coming up and there was a very light breeze blowing into the rip rap we were fishing. We pulled off them and headed up Sons Creek to put some meat in the freezer for a fish fry at daves church. We found whites on the main point leading into griesser and then in the mouth of the pockets between the secondary points. the wind was blowing baitfish into the pockets and the whites were waiting for them. after bout an hour the wind started blowing hard out of the west north west and we thought our bite was over so we pulled out and ran down and fished quite a ways back in powerline cove with no success. We decided to run back up to griesser and a couple fellows were already fishing the bank we were fishing so we ran over to the other side of the cove just above the point. the wind was blowing right down the bank and the whites were holding behind the run out on the point and ambushing baitfish as they drifted by. my point is just because weather conditions change doesnt mean the fish get lock jaw. we just lucked into making an adjustment that finished out our limits. when the wind changed we were still fishing the mouth of the pockets while the whites just changed direction and were facing into the wind just behind the run outs. we were actually throwing behind the fish with them facing the wrong direction. When we moved out in front of them and threw diagnally across the runout we were catching fish again. sometimes the smallest adjustment can make a major difference the whites were basically on the same pattern which was facing into the wind waiting for baitfish but when the wind changed direction so did the fish but we didnt change with them we just automatically thought it was over and if that boat wasnt on the bank wed been fishing we probably would have not found them again that day. gatorbitu, Terrierman, trythisonemv and 2 others 5
