hoglaw Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Yeah. Clousers were the most effective as always. But when my rod broke I caught them on an in line spinner. Dan Sweeney 1
Guest Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 It's been a longtime coming, you were due a good trip. Hopefully your motor has a minor problem. Nothing like motor trouble. You didn't let it keep you from wearing out the white bass. That's what counts.
cpriest Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hoglaw - how far down? May have saw you at the tail out of a gravel bar. I was fishing solo in a Gheenoe - think flat back canoe with a small outboard. I did decent, got out at 6:15 and managed to find a few males
hoglaw Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I was fishing the second shoal down. End of the road so to speak if you're hiking from the ramp. But we walked from Polo subdivision. Lots of folks were fishing around us but we were on the downstream end of that gravel bar.
hoglaw Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Anyone catch them this weekend? I got out on Friday and it was bad slow. Caught five fish total between four of us I think, and they were all up in Richland. Saw a guy hammering them up there on minnows, but they didn't want what I had. A buddy went Sunday and struggled as well, but he wasn't out long. I feel like the front may have screwed everything up for a bit and will probably try it again on Wednesday. Curious to know if anyone else is catching them.
Members Dan Sweeney Posted April 6, 2015 Members Posted April 6, 2015 I hit Richland Saturday afternoon and evening. It was bright and clear out after a frosty night and morning. I didn't get a bump and saw only three small whites get caught. I'd expect a couple days yet before they get back up in there. As an aside, I nearly snuffed it in Richland. I'm a left handed fly caster in a right handed world. Even the rivers seem bent towards righties, never mind trying to cast in a crowd. Anyway, I waded across Richland and was standing under the bluff and fished a while. I waded back across to get into the brush to take a semi-private leak, then just ambled down to the water and kept fishing. About five minutes later a ten or fifteen pound slab of rock broke loose and dropped on what would have been my head had I still been standing under the bluff. Three or four guys and I had a good laugh at that. Silence is golden.
JohnF52 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I saw rock break off that bluff and fall into Richland a couple weeks ago.
Lshack2 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I fished a couple of hours last night on the white above twin bridges. I fished primarily an outside river bend tailout and had a great evening with a real mixed bag. Caught my first hybrid of the season, two short walleye, a half dozen whites and 10+ crappie.. All on a clouser all on a 25yrd stretch. You gotta love spring on the White. Members Dan Sweeney Posted April 7, 2015 Members Posted April 7, 2015 That sounds like a fine evening. I didn't make it down to Twin yesterday (might today), but I did wade down from the War Eagle Mill and finally caught a few real fish: little Kentuck, some bluegill, and a goggle eye. Last time I caught a dozen or so fathead minnows or whatever they are. Another day or two and they'll turn on up there. Silence is golden.
