Wt 54-59

663.70 and rising

5-7pm

I have been eager to get out this week and try for a shallow bite. Found some 59 degree runoff water that had maybe 6" visibility. Second cast I had a keeper largemouth in my hand that bit a jig w/ a custom color skirt that has been putting a lot of fish in my boat the last 2 years.Used a zoom fat albert grub trailer on it. To me it looks like a bluegill or shad , maybe even a crappie to some extent, anyway the bass love it! About a dozen casts later stuck a fat 3+lb lmb. Caught a couple more shorts on the jig after that. Put down that jig and picked up a chatterbait style jig and got 3 keeper spots to bite it. Nice 2lb class size. ALL my bites were in 6' or less. As the sun went away , so did the bite. Everything was put back.

(I'll post a pic later)

Thanks for the report. I'm coming down from Michigan with 3 other guys(2 boats) for a week of vacation fishing. Any help to give us any techniques or areas to fish would be appreciated . Usually on these trips, it takes us four or five days to figure things out and then it's time to come come. We will be staying in the Buck Creek area from April 4-10. Looks like the water will be warming up and rising yet.

maybe one of these day photobucket will let me access my account,

did another quick ttrip yesterday (3/31)from 5pm-7:30pm , found a handful ,but they were very spooky this time, and hard to hook, missed 5 bites on the same jig. Got 3 small lmb to hit a little buzzbait in 4fow. Ended up catching a total of 5 , 2 keepers, a 15" spot, and a 16"largemouth and both bit the jig. All released.Once again it seemed like the later in the day it got, the bite faded with it. Wt was warmer 62. Lots of floaters in the water up the Theodosia arm. Always picking debris off your line gets old in a hurry ! It's setting up to be a good shallow bass bite again this Spring.

The flats are flooded now,and there's lots of available cover for them

This morning I tried for some white bass , but that never happened :(
