Members redbirdsfan44 Posted April 21, 2015 Members Posted April 21, 2015 Well Sunday was the first time I have ever visited Pomme De Terre and I can't say I had a great day on the water. Put in at nemo camp ground around 7 and headed down the river to hit a couple coves that I had got some tips to fish. Pulled out 4 fish in the first cove flipping black and blue jigs with a sweet beaver trailer. We threw everything we had at em and I mean everything and those were the only 4 bass we caught all day. No keepers. Water below the nemo bridge was stained and around 61 degrees. Tried to get out of the wind later in the day but every good looking cove we pulled up on that had pea gravel was covered in spawning carp. Headed back Saturday for the Mercy Hospital Co-worker fishing tournament. I don't have very high expectations but who knows what will happen. Did catch a keeper walleye so I guess the day wasn't a total waste. Thought we might get a good idea of what to do next saterday but just seemed like nothing was producing. Have the bass already spawned? Any advice is appreciated.
DChance Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I would assume they are in the middle of the spawn now. did you not see any beds?
Members redbirdsfan44 Posted April 21, 2015 Author Members Posted April 21, 2015 We ran all over the lake looking for beds and everywhere that looked like a great spawning pocket was completely covered in carp that were spawning
WeekendWarrior Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 They were in the pockets two weeks ago, not bedding but where there. We had 22 fisherman and 19 had limits, a lot of guys culling thru 10 to 15 keepers. Most guys throwing bottom baits. 1st place for 2 days was 23.25 lbs. With a 7.04 kicker. I finished second with 23.03 and I was throwing a shaky head in pockets or coves. In the coves they were on the little pockets on a straight bank fishing from the bank on out to 10-12 foot.
Ketchup Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Hey wknd, did Kenny win that? I dont think the bass have spawned. I fish the other end of the lake alot, and havent seen anything resembling a spawned out bass. Still catching males up close, but thr big females we have been catching at in 8 to 12 fow. Try the dam area Redbird. Last few weekends, the winners in tourneys were fishing that area. Not gonna give ya my holes tho. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

Members redbirdsfan44 Posted April 22, 2015 Author Members Posted April 22, 2015 It sounds like you guys know a lot more about the lake than my fishing buddy and I. Anybody willing to give up some spots that will produce to a couple guys that are just trying to catch a few fish and have a good day on saturday? There's a very likely chance that I won't ever fish Pomme ever again after the tournament saturday. I just like Stockton a lot better because I know the lake better.
sandbc Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 redbird........I fish crappie mostly but I used to be the same way about pomme. you just have to give the lake a chance and dont let one bad day make you not like it. pomme is just like stockton if you compare the two on maps. pomme is just a smaller version of stockton. my brother has a weekend place on pomme so I have been fishing with him a lot the last 3 years. now its just a toss up on which lake has a better report and or better weather forecast for when I go by myself. as for bass just look at the reports on here the past few weeks. sounds really good to me. just apply the same statagy on pomme that you would on stockton and you will be fine. you will learn to love the lake and love that you can get anywhere on the lake really fast. good luck. stacey
luckycraft Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 see ya saturday redbird.... not giving up spots but will be in the tourney..... good luck
