Are any of the coves around hawker point any good for crappie fishing? Im camping there with the family this weekend, but Ive never fished it for crappie this time of year. Ive caught some nice bass, walleye, and catfish up there later in the summer. Just wondering if I should spend my time there, or if I should take my boat farther down to the creek arms where I have been catching crappie the past couple weeks.

Dont know during spawn i fish that area post spawn. I would make the run to upper ends of lake if able. Walleye are good in that area. Gool luck.

There shouldn't be near the traffic in that area. And yes there are some great banks up there. They possibly would be just a little deeper and if you find a good bank chances are you won't be surrounded by a bunch of boats.

i agree with waterpossum you don't have to go far to find some good spawning banks. you can go back around hawker (left) way towards the back and find some good banks or go back out to main lake and go to your right and find some really good pockets in the big cove that is just passed the last camping spot on the big rock point. just before you get to it theres a small rocky pocket and you will see the road runs right next to it and theres a guard rail there. theres two good brush piles in 20fow just around the point on main lake that i catch crappie year round on. they are about 100 yards down the bank from the point.

Is this the cove on the right you are refering to? I see one brush pile that the MDC set, but I am not sure if this is where you were directing me.

Where did you get the map you have posted? Looks interesting. Will be down to Stockton next week and fishing in

the map came from the MO dept of conservation. Its an app that I have it on my iPhone and my iPad. Its called find MO fish. I use it all the time to plan out where I want to fish. When you are on the water, your GPS will put a blue dot on the map to show your location and you can pull right up to brushpilles. Its pretty accurate too.

yep thats one of them. i was in there last might bout am hour didnt fish for crappie tho. ck out the little pocket just down from the brush pile, theres some pretty good transition chunk to gravel to sand in that cove towards the back
