I am coming down tomorrow and could not find any jigs in Wichita. Is there anyone in the Cape Fair area that would like to sell some. Or I will travel to meet up. It sounds like the ticket to having a lot of fun. Any feedback would be great. I will keep everyone posted of any success thru-out the week. Thanks CBO

U will need some z man plastic zinkers in PB and J or some shade of green, some loctite super glue gel, and some Arkie stand up jigs from wall mart 1/8 oz ( u really need some of Dave's but the Arkies will work in a pinch). Cut them in half glue to the heads and have fun.

You should be able to find what you can use either in Bass Pro in Springfield, MO. or Walmart usually will have jigs that will work just fine. Oh also you will need some Loctite Super glue the gel type is easier to use. Other brands of super glue just don't like the plastic used in the Zero or Zman 5" worms. Good luck you will have a great catching time with the Ned/Varmint rig. We like to use light spinning gear with 6# line of your choice....

I'm sure Dave's jigheads and the Z man worms are best for this - the optimum and all. BUT, being mostly a crappie fisherman I didn't have any of that and went slumming for bass out of Indian Point anyway a couple of days ago. Two of us caught 40+ bass in a few hours including 14 keepers.

I used what I had - half-Senkos and some Chompers in various colors, watermelon, green pumpkin, motor oil red flake, purple striped, etc. For Ned-rig jigheads I used round unpainted 1/8 oz. crappie jigs I pour on Eagle Claw #575 gold hooks, size 1/0. The Senkos tore up after a few fish but I had plenty, and color didn't seem to matter one bit. Heavier hooks would have been better for bass I guess, but the light gold hooks were OK. The way the bass were biting, I think anything that remotely resembled a crawdad, fished very slow on the bottom, would have worked just as well.

When you get to Springfield go to Fin n Feather on South Campbell just a few miles south of Bass pro and buy some of their 1/8 oz jigs. Easy to cut off collar with light wire cutters and you end up with a good Ned jig. I think $10 for 50 or so, or ....

BPS and buy Zman heads 6 for $4.79, or...

Make due with what you have or what you can get at WM.

I was in your situation this past weekend. BPS in Springfield are out of ned rig jigs..... They have plenty of ZMann PGJ worms. I had to use Arkie jigs and they performed well except it would get hung up in the rocks a little more.

I haven't post much on here for years but am a lurker whenever I headed for the rock.

Had a great weekend I got a 5th place finish yesterday on that ned rig in our local bass club tournament.

Heard you caught them. I did not watch weigh in to see who won, just dropped John Carroll off so he could get home and went back to fishing. Talked to Kenny and Rich a little. Hope everyone had a safe trip home, and am looking forward to being at the meeting on 5/4.

When I was in BPS in Springfield and Branson last week they were out of pretty much everything except crappie type heads. They will work in a pinch, but buy lots. They like to stay in the lake.

This is what I used until I got hold of some of Dave's heads. His are better but these work too. Those jigheads are common as dirt. You do need to trim the weedguard a little bit. It's really more about technique, having the right weight head, right sized hook and the elaztech if you ask me.
