JohnF52 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Crappie, anyone? If I had to fish for food I would surely starve.
J-Doc Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 The Crappie Masters tournament sure made a good showing. They broke the record on Beaver. Seems spider rigging worked well for the winners. Small tubes and light line I heard. Yakfm picked up a crappie bait a flung it to a dock to see if he could catch one and sure enough, he did. But he's just good like that. I could have casted to it 50 times and maybe caught one. :-) They are starting to bite but it's been slow for most. Great for some. Depends on what you're doing and where you are I guess. I'm ready to get back on them. I took a trip to North Louisiana a few weeks ago for crappie and learned a few tricks that may help me. Sorry I can't really offer any insight. I would say try docks. Find a patten and work it. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
J-Doc Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 They all broke the 9lb mark. Per the video posted on the Crappie Masters Facebook page. Need marine repair? Feathers and Fins Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Bet they were slow rolling or fishing very near the bottom https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Lance34 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Winners where fishing 20 to 30 feet down right on the bottom. Biggest fish caught was in the ball park of 1.7 pounds I think. The 8 CM teams caught their 7 fish limit with 9 pounds and some change being what they all weighed in. The weight doesn't even come close to what is weighed in at Lake Washington,MS and Grenada, MS. I've not really been able to go fish the past couple of weeks. Last time I went I caught them 10-13 feet of water in brush. None on the bank. Other than what I heard from the tournament and what I've done in the past I don't really have nothing. Any other input would help. You may pull Arkie 350 cranks or Spider rig to find them. And them stay with them. Smaller ones my be shallow or in sunken brush. Dan the fisherman 1
