bluebasser86 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 If you see an orange/silver/black Stratos 189VLO with 2 guys and a golden retriever that all look lost, stop by and say hi! Hoping to catch some bass and maybe stumble into some stripers.
J-Doc Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Hey that's pretty!!!!! I like that color scheme. Good luck! Stripers have been on the move but look for them in the middle of large coves (like Coose, Van Winkle, etc., not small coves.....ones that are a mile plus) and look for them from anywhere between the middle of the cove (main channel) up towards the bank. Drifting live bait has been working well. I'm about to post a report now. Good luck and safe travels! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. Guest Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 I found the big gizzard shad spwaning all over the lake from Prairie Creek to Rocky Branch. They were splashing & causing a ruckus in those spawning coves. I didnt see any bass chasing them. Lots & lots of 12-15" gizzards just balled up on the shallow flats. We caught 9 walleye from a single dock stall with the Ned. Meanmouth, smallies & spots all found theyre way to the Ned. Didnt see a lot of beds, fished shaded dock stalls 12ft deep. Too bad my bomber Long A doesnt run right...

I had a similar experience yesterday. Big gizzards up shallow. Caught a pile of fish including several dozen small walleye from 6 to 16" while fishing for crappie using a Bobby G. White bass were thick in another stretch I fished. Good numbers day yesterday, but nothing big. Found the walleye, crappie, and WB in 16-22 FOW. Caught the fish on crankbaits and Bobby G.
bluebasser86 Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 We had a lot of fun. Mostly smaller bass that we caught on a Ned rig but also caught them on a Keitech and Deps 175 Slide Swimmer, grub, drop shot, tube, and a spook. My buddy in another boat caught a keeper walleye in the first 10 minutes on a spook! My first 3 fish I caught in the first hour were all stripers and proved to be the only 3 of the trip. All on a Keitech in PC. It was a great trip on a beautiful lake, man the fish are so well colored and clean out of that lake! J-Doc, Lance34 and Stump bumper 3
J-Doc Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Sounds like a good trip to me. And those stripers were good and fat! I'm pretty sure they were spawning females as I caught a male up shallow this weekend.
