slab slinger
Glad to hear that the water temps are rising. Great news fish are hitting cranks. Flicker shad are deadly on suspended crappie. You'll pick us some real thumpers trolling cranks. Cranks catch big crappie. Nice job adjusting and targeting the big females in open water. Members Ralda
I took my son and dad tonight. Things got real fun about an hour before dark on an east bank, in the evening sun. Bobbers and minnows on the bank. 3 keepers and 2 break offs at the boat in about 45 minutes. 13-14 inch slab females. I suspect it's gonna get real crazy this weekend. Have fun! Members crappiecatchingbrad
Put in at cc yesterday with the wife. We caught a ton of shorts and left with 9 keepers. Fished a minnow about 4' deep in water that was 10' deep. Guys I talked said jig fishing was very slow. Also left with 18"bass, a walleye, and a catfish. Wife had a blast so it was a great trip. Thanks for all the reports.
Sac River Jim
We started out with three poles using three different colors to include red, purple, and the "slick mouse". "Uncle Rico" which has a hint of chartreuse and pink was getting hit as well as the "slick chartreuse with pearl" from the flicker shad pro series. All in the 7 cm. Trolled them between 1.96 to 2.1 mph. I became a trolling guy a couple of years back. I'll tie on the quick snaps and change out one just about every time I have to reel in until I find what I think is the hot color. I loaded up on flicker shad over the past couple of years. I bought three or four every time I ran into them until I had two to three of each one. i've loaded up om flicker shad too got over 50 of em with my favorite stockton color being the #7 purple tiger. Sac River Jim
You are correct Slab on the pre spawn. All of them today I caught were in pre spawn. I did see several on the finder on the bottom at 7 fow... never could get them to strike so I ended up back out on the suspended fish. I would look at moving to the north part of the lake in a few weeks to go after them up around Hawker area. The water will be getting into the 65 degrees up there about that time. Last year I was hitting crappie suspended in pre-spawn all the way up to mid-May around Hawker. wednesday evening just before dark water temp from mutton to hawker was 60.3 degrees with visibility atleast 8 to 10' maybe up to 12'. I havent been up the creeks since my last fiasco on son's creek. there's no need because theres lots of fish to catch in the mid lake area back in the coves and pockets. LoweSTX175
Its almost 1 PM. I'm heading to Stockton right now. I'll give a report when I get back this evening. Don't know where I'm going until I get there. I anticipate a large crowd out there today.
