jtram Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Went on a 3.5 mile float today (a trib), great flows, slow start, hot fishing to end it. 3 taks probably 30-40 fish per bost half a dozen 14+ inch fish nothing over 16-17". Great day on the water! Amery 1
vonreed Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I have never seen so many fish in a river as the Elk River. I only floated it once, but it was like floating in a zoo. And real nice clean water also. I imagine this river is what the James river where I live used to be before pollution.
drew03cmc Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 The Elk sees plenty of refuse disposed in its banks. It is far from as clean as it could be. jtram 1 Andy
jtram Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Float the lower, probably more polluted, but seems cleaner, clearer, with much more diversity and solitude. 2 different rivers in my opinion. Th float was well above elk on a trib though....
GloryDaze Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 That's the best part of the Elk, it's upper tribs... I really enjoy the Big Sugar section fron Cyclone to the Elk. I haven't floated there in a few years though, while I enjoy the river I just needed some solitude away from all the people and cabins and beer cans and toilet paper and loud music....
