Sam Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I don't fish much for bass but we always try to get in some goggleye (rock bass) trips on Tablerock in May. My partner and I have been doing that, but this year the big brown fish won't let us concentrate - about one out of every three fish we catch is a smallmouth! Not complaining you understand, but bringing in 17-inchers like this one on a swimmin' minnow and light spinning tackle is a real experience and fun! It's obvious the smallie population in this part of the lake has really increased, as this hasn't happened to us much in previous years. Don't worry, they're all back in the lake - but the goggleye filets are in the freezer. merc1997 Bo, Champ188, Ham and 3 others 6
Champ188 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Sam, thanks for the report and congrats on catching those big brown fish. They are a handful on just about any tackle, much less what you'd use for goggle-eye. And thanks for letting them go!
motoman Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Indeed, thanks for the report and nice pic of that smallie:-)
