Members SDB777 Posted May 10, 2015 Members Posted May 10, 2015 Duck calls are a fun side of the woodturning world....guess the maker? Seriously though, this is a hobby that spurred the photography for me. I had to learn a way to take photographs that would show the calls(pens and everything else) to people. So I studied pretty hard and learned the method call HDR(high dynamic range)..... Five frames of the same photo with EV settings of -2, -1, 0, +1, +2 merged into one photo reducing the blown out highlights and bringing up the dark area to reveal what is hidden. ness Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Cewl. I haven't heard of HDR being used in an application like that. John
Members SDB777 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Members Posted May 15, 2015 True, it isn't a 'normal' way to do product placement. But what happens when you chuck a piece of 'stuff' in a light tent? The meter finds a neutral 'gray' and the setting is determined, whether it's correct or not, and the shutter fires, and post processing begins. A lot of things can be 'fixed' in post processing, but why bother......it's easier to get an exposure without dark spots or blown out areas by doing it this way. I've tried far too many ways to do product placement with fair to less than fair results. Scott (give it a try!) B No high priced fly gear here!
