Crawlers work great too...i just like the shiners cause i dont have to buy them...although after the rain i could probably catch some crawelers too.

5Bites-

I hadnt either until quite a few years ago a buddy of mine showed me how to fish them around the riprap at ruark. Thats the only time i use a cork but it is extremely effective when the time is right. When i drift i just use a splitshot or two.

That is interesting. I use a cork but I still match the depth which makes casting interesting. I didn't realize they'd come up like that to get bait. Thanks guys.

Right on. I'll be at Ruark. That's where I've always tried it in the past. I may have to broaden my territory though. I'm a bass guy but watching a kid with a 5lb+ catfish is a good time. Hopefully the weather is reasonable and the fish cooperate. I'd really like to watch the boys rip them this year especially if we have company.

Thanks for the advice.

might try a night crawler couple feet under a bobber just off the rocks on the rip rap at CC. its just bout time for the cats to be up there. tell your kid's to hold on TIGHT!!! You never no when a big flathead might gobble down that worm up there!!!!

I've never tried down there either. It's just a quick run away though. I hope they're playing. With the cooler temps in the morning I'm gonna get a later start than I wanted.

son's creek at 39 bridge can be good this time of year but especially if we get some mud coming down it this week end. the bigger cats especially flatheads will come out of the deeper water bout a mile down and follow the mud right up the creek.

Well it sucked. Le'zero catfish for us around ruark bridge. Puhlenty bass. I hate it when I have to complain about catching bass. I tried drifting the flat from ruark bluff to the swim beach, nothing. No idea what I'm doing. I just kept the boat between 5-10ish feet and dragged our worms and shiners. Then we ran to 39 bridge and had more nothing. I tried the channel side too fishing vertically basically movingly along slowly to see if anything was in the rock along the steeper bank. Again more nothing.

I did hear of a 44lb flathead being caught somewhere around the campground so evidently they are around for some but not this guy. I wanted one 5lb plus cat for each of my boys but it just wasn't for us today. I kinda think it's a little early for the rip rap thing. It seems anytime I've had success doing it it's been hotter than this. I'm not a cat guy so I could be completely wrong though.

this weekend may be hard. 5 bites. But if the weather is bad anglers such as your self will have plenty of undesturbed water

Pole down on island across from chicken rock. You may find what your looking for

Sorry to hear about the no go on the cats. It is a bit earlier than i normaly fish ruark for cats plus this cool spell isnt helping. As far as drifting flats in that area i have never done well. I start around now at aldrich and fish riprap there until mid june then i start fishing h hwy bridge until about the 4th or so and then move back to aldrich on the flats. Hope your luck turnes around though! Good luck and be safe this weekend

Search still continues. Need to talk with basscat for sure . I have the money but not sure if warranty is important on those?

I drove to bass pro to look at them. Saleman said they discontinued all talon products be cause of no sales. I came back home..I see the 12 foot online but unsure of online sales? as far as brand. I still want the talon I do need to purchase this week so I will have them ..
