Members bgault Posted May 20, 2015 Members Posted May 20, 2015 Rented a Bass Boat at Lilley's Landing for a maiden voyage on Taneycomo. Have been a wade fisherman for a few years with good success with a fly rod, midges and scuds but with all the water running this week and last wade fishing just wasn't going to happen. Tried a few days off the dock a Lilley's with some success but it was pretty slow so thought I should get out in a boat for a change of scenery and perhaps some better action. Without the least bit of knowledge of where to go, we just went up to Fall Creek and drifted back to Lilley's throwing 1/8 ounce brown head sculpin and ginger jigs toward the bank (on the same side of the lake as Lilley's). We tried to keep the boat 20-30 years off the bank and you do have to be careful around the may trees that have fallen into the lake - but that's were we seemed to pick up most of the fish - around the fallen trees. We boated 20 or so rainbows with one nice brown (see pic). The brown was a hoot - I saw it come out from along side a log and attack the jig - and I mean "attack" - wow! Best area seemed to be just upstream from Trout Hollow to just below Trout Hollow. Perhaps not great according to some of the other numbers I've seen but for us it was a great initial fish from a boat. For those that love wade fishing this was definitely a nice option for when the water is running and we would certainly recommend Lilley's for your boating needs. bs1827 and duckydoty 2
