jbooth24 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 The 6th and 7th of June I am doing the over night float from hooten town down. And I was wondering if anyone has floated this ateech beofr. I want to know if the fishing is good on that stretch and also what the river is like. I plan on mostly smallmouth and Google eye fishing and running a trout line at night. All info is much appreciated. Tight lines everyone
vonreed Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 There is some awesome spots to fish down in that area, but to me it seems the river changes about 1/3 into that float and becomes wider and a little more filled in with lots of areas which aren't very deep. With that said, it has 2 of my favorite fishing holes in it. There are lots and lots of catfish in that stretch and usually a good population of white bass if you can find the correct pools to throw a minnow into. Have fun.

Terrierman Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I've done it, last year actually. Did not care for it, there is a long stretch called "the marble grounds" where the river is wide and flat. Also not a lot of good gravel bars for camping. I prefer Shelvin to McCall.
jbooth24 Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 I didn't know whore bass ran up that far. But will give it a shot. Going to use chicken liver and worms for catfish. Might fish for bass at night also. Will let everyone know of how the trip goes. Thank you guys for the info

Fishslayer88 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 That is a good section to float you're gonna cover 22 miles of water so there will be plenty of fish and the river is in good shape this year you shouldn't need to drag much if any.
jbooth24 Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Lol meant white. Don't know how I didn't see that Flysmallie 1
Fishslayer88 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 There are usually some in the river but not like when they are spawning. I caught one on a ned at AA Wheeler branch a few days ago.
