flyfshn Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Rented a pontoon from Lilley's Landing from 12-5. Was pretty sunny and temps were in the 70's and all 10 flood gates were open. Was a little nervous about drifting since I don't have a ton of experience boating. Phil said, you'll be fine, just leave the motor idling and if you get close to the side, move it out to the middle. He was right, it was a breeze, so if you are concerned about drifting, don't be! All three of us used spinning reels/rods with a 1/4oz bell, one used a egg pattern from Duane and a red san juan worm, one had a #12 grey scud with a red san juan worm and the third was a #12 tan scud with a red san juan worm. Yes, all three had a red san juan worm at the bottom! That is what Phil and Duane suggested and it worked well the day before! We went up to the line, just below the dam and two of us caught rainbows on the first cast. For the most part, we would drift down to Fall Creek and then go back up to the line. Seemed to catch more closer to the dam, but caught some down from Fall Creek as well. Between the three of us, we probably caught 25-30 fish. All were rainbows and they ranged from 13" to 22" and there were a couple beautiful ones. Unfortunately we didn't take any photos. The two guys I was fishing with needed some assistance (tying on rigs) and I wanted to fish, so I said the heck with taking photos! Was a great day and as usual, Lilley's Landing looked great! Well manicured, beautiful and the folks working there were very friendly! If you haven't seen it yet, stop by Phil's "office" on the dock! It is SWEET! Wish it was my office!
