I'm fairly new also. We have done well at birch all the way to Ruark. The shoreline by Ruark was good for trolling. Got Crappie and walleye there. Not sure if they have moved to deeper water though. There are some cedar trees below a bridge pier there that I limited out in two or three hours before. Always can catch some right off my dock at Mutton Creek. I'm going down in the morning for 2 days. Still figuring out where to go myself. Best of luck to you.

I believe I'm going tomorrow. How do you troll?(middle or along banks) What is the best to use? How deep is common?

Bank at 10 to 15 feet, but I havent been down in a couple of weeks. Fish may be deeper now. We got a 23" walleye right in that area. Maybe some old timers can chime in.

Ok thanks, yeah hopefully I can figure some stuff out. I normally use shad wraps but if there deeper than about 12 feet I'll have to find something else. Any ideas on that

Minnows on a plain red hook. Green rooster tail with minnow behind it was good for trolling. Silver spoon with power bait on the dock. Slip bobber with minnow in the cove.

Walleyedmike is a member here and is very knowledgable on trolling. Last weekend his report was most were caught in 15fow or less. As far as how and where i usually start along a bank that i know or think is good and troll the contour starting in 10-12 fow with flickr shads. If theres takers in a trip down and back then i move out to 15-18 fow. I do this until i find fish. If im graphing fish at a certain depth but am not catching any after exausting all options on that paticular stretch i move to another and start at the depth i previously graphed fish. One thing to do to get a deeper dive out of your baits is to use braided line or walleyedmike said on his last report he was using lead core line. If they are deeper than 15fow or so and you are trolling cranks then that is a way to get a little more depth. If your graphing fish but not getting any you may slow down a bit especially using those lines cause you can still get a bit deeper with a slightly slower speed. I usually troll between .75 and 1.25 mph with #7 flickr shads. Various colors work i like purple tiger and anything chartrouse. The powerline cove bank across and down from ruark has produced many fish for me this time of year. I am no expert and dont come close to being as good as most of the members on here but those are some of the things i have learned from various people on here and they work pretty well. The main thing is to continue to work various depths until you find fish. Good luck and hopefully this helps a little.

Ps... the cats are biting around the rip rap under bridges. I caught three this morning before the storm.

Anyone got a depth chart for #7 flickr shad on 10# test?

The depth chart is on the back of all the packaging that they come in... I think it is about 13-15 on braid and 11-13 on mono...???

As Whatever said ""I usually troll between .75 and 1.25 mph with #7 flickr shads. Various colors work i like purple tiger and anything chartrouse.""

I troll about the same speed with #5 & #7 Flickers and only the ones with Chartreuse.......
