lmt out Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 We have fished it a lot also, this has been a bad year catching walleye until the the last two weeks. We have just been using bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses. Color didnt seem to matter. I dont know what we did any different than anyone else. 11' to 18' deep. My sister and her husband were fishing right next to us doing the same thing and they caught 19 fish in the same time period. We just got lucky felt like we were in Canada for a little while. kwall Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Imt thanks , Just wonder if I need to make some changes to what I'm (we) are doing ? Tackle, speed , terrain all those details could help us
LoweSTX175 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 My next trip to Stockton won't be until mid-September. I was wondering if there was really a pattern for fishing Stockton in the fall. The last two years I've gone down in the fall and didn't have much luck (each time for 5 days). We even tried drifting for cats on the flats and didn't have much luck. Is it just me or is it really that slow on Stockton during the fall?
Members lundone Posted July 31, 2015 Members Posted July 31, 2015 Fished next to lmt out for a couple of hrs Wed morning and sure nuf they were pulling them in one after the other while my fishing partner and I pulled in channel cat one after the other. We did get 5 eyes with 2 keepers in between cats. We told him we were channel cat fishing so we would look better. Good to meet you lmt out. powerdive and Hunter91 2
slab slinger Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 LoweSTX175... I would try for Crappie if you strike out on eyes. Sept is a great month for crappie on Stockton. I should be posting reports till the bow huntin gets good. Feel free to PM me anytime if needed. LoweSTX175 1

I might also just be too stubborn to get away from my trolling ways.
mjk86 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 September is a good time of year for me on stockton. Done well over the last few years (mid/late september) with walleyes trolling tail dancers and flicker shads, and jigging worms. Ill be down there this year too i think, maybe ill see ya down there! Its the same technique as the summer pattern but usually they are shallower 13-15ft. Trolling always catches me at least a few crappies on stockton no matter what time of year ive been out there (never in the dead of winter), but there are probably better ways to catch em in september. All that said...."doing well" for me is catching more than one keeper and a few shorts among non target species, so its all relative. That one guy that caught 111 in one day...thats more walleye than ive caught on stockton in my life, id do what he does lol. LoweSTX175 1
mjk86 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Wife and I fished Tuesday and half a day today. 111 total walleye with 28 keepers of course didn't keep that many. lol bottom bouncer and crawler. This is the most incredible walleye report ive ever heard on stockton. Ive probably caught less than that many walleyes my entire life. A good day for me walleye fishing is 2-4 keepers and 8-10 shorts, in 5-6 hours of fishing.
