Skeeter ZX190 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Got on the water around 2:30 p.m. and got off around 8:30 p.m. Started with the ned rig in green pumpkin on a point close to the channel. Caught 4 smallmouth with one of those just bumping 15 inches. Caught them in 9 to 14 feet of water. Moved around and ended up catch 13 on the ned rig. All were smallmouth except for one 15 inch largemouth. The last 45 minutes of the day we started throwing spinnerbaits up in the bushes and it was game on. We caught 12 that way. They all came on one point close to the dam. I wish now that we would have started a little sooner because we ran out of sunlight and a pretty good shower moved in. All together we caught 25 and missed several others. Nothing big enough to keep on the spinnerbait but it was a lot of fun and they were hammering it pretty good. Seemed like the fish were on the outside bushes. Water temps were 84 to 88 degrees and the water was clear. LoweSTX175 and blacknoseddace 2
wareaglecamo Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 what a fun afternoon/evening of fishing . . . thanks for the great report and taking the time to include the photos . . . a nice mix of smallies and blacks, which always makes the overall experience even better:)
waterpossum Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Good report. At the current rate of water release, the lake will have gone down about 3' over the last week. With nothing better to do I have given my vain attempt to calculate just how much acreage Stockton was holding at 875 . At 867 the acreage is 25,000. Am I right to calculate that at 875 the acreage is 37,000? Maximum acreage at 892 is 66,960.
Skeeter ZX190 Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 This reminds me of a Jimmy Houston video where he and the camera man are trying to calculate the total number bass caught per year. Pretty funny video. To try and answer your question, I don't know if there is a mathematical formula to determine the new acerage based on a higher elevation because it depends on the topography. A lake with flatter and more sloping banks would result in more acreage from a 1 foot rise versus a lake like LOZ that has more vertical banks. Good report.
