Fish24/7 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I was out the other day for a few hours. I was the only one I saw the whole time and I know why. Not a bite for me. There are submerged bushes all along the shoreline down to about 30ft still. Lotta places for them to hide. Water was around 86. That was Monday before this cooler weather hit did you see any topwater action? fish chasing bait how far up Spring creek did you go?
Fish24/7 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 talked to a guy today who went yesterday and caught some fish(walleye/bass) on main lake points suspended around the old shoreline 30ish. he was throwing finesse plastics and trolling
Bluff-Bassin Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 did you see any topwater action? fish chasing bait how far up Spring creek did you go? Sorry it took so long to reply. The bride and I took a weekend fishing trip to Dardanelle. We decided we had fished enough high water for a while. To answer your question. I'm sure there is a name for the creek/cove, but basically I ran way back into the right fork of spring creek near the last set of docks. Went way back up in there past where the old rock wall is at low water. There were baitfish everywhere flitting on the surface. Saw some gar swirling and porpoising. Not a bass to be found. Threw the buzzbait for a while. Ran back out and fished a few main lake points but to be honest my head wasn't really into it for whatever reason and after about an hour I called it good. I'm sure everyone has had one of those days. Go to all the work to get out there only to decide there is somewhere else you'd rather be, or should rather be doing. I was graphing quite a few fish suspended about 25-30 along bluffs but who knows what they were. Tried feeding them the spoon down and nothing. Talk in the tackle shop the other day was a few folks were coming in buying a bunch of 10 inch powerworms catching a good number of shorts in the shallows. No big ones though.
Fish24/7 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 September and August are difficult months w/o high water thanks for the reply B-B

sms_alum Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I'm headed down Thursday for my first time on lower Bull Shoals. Fished the pot holes area some in college but that been 10 years ago now. I hope to get out in the mornings and evenings. I will have some younger kids with me most mornings so I was thinking about trolling some crankbaits with them. Not really targeting a specific species but I thought that might be a good way to learn the lake some and bump into a few fish. If you guys have any suggestions let me know. If you out there this weekend we will be in a blue and white Skeeter Fish n Ski.
Rob P Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Its been slow 2 weeks ago we caught bass trolling crank baits in 25-35fow. Small bass but still active. We started using clip weights to get the baits deep and it has produced.
sms_alum Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Well, we had a great weekend at Bull Shoals. We stayed a Bull Shoals Resort around the 1 mile marker. The lake was very clear and clean, not crowded at all even though it was labor day weekend. The kids had a great time swimming and tubing. The fishing was tough. I could only get a out for an hour or two in the mornings but I wasn't really able to locate many fish or patterns. Fished crankbaits for a while but never picked anything up. Caught a few shorts and sunfish on ned rigs and grubs but that was about it. Next time down I think I will buck up for a guide to learn the lake some before I start taking the kids out fishing.
Members txdave Posted September 8, 2015 Author Members Posted September 8, 2015 Well the wife and I spent Labor Day at Bullshoals. We caught 10-12 fish a day for a couple of days. All short walleye, spots and small mouth. Best deal we had was to troll a #7 black and silver flicker shad. Fished in water about 30' deep. We had a good time. We are suppose to be coming back down for Thanksgiving we will be looking forward t oanother adventure. Thanks for all the information everyone provided. Txdave Rob P 1
