Al Agnew Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Caught one that was 44 inches long out of my pond on a popper with a 4 weight fly rod, but that was when the cicadas were out. Took about 30 minutes to land it. It seemed about dead when I released it, but there were only two in the pond, so a little later I saw both of them so it survived. That was at least 5 or 6 years ago, maybe longer, and there is still at least one in the pond. I can't get a good look at it, but once in a while I'll see this washtub sized swirl when I walk up to the edge of the water. The pond is 25 years old and the two were put in it soon after it was built, so I'm wondering how long those things live. (And just how big that one is now!). Seth 1
