Members Fly Is Life Posted August 27, 2015 Members Posted August 27, 2015 Does anyone know of any good crappie flies to catch some crappie on? I plan on going this weekend and what part of the lake are they biting on? Thanks
fishinwrench Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 A #6 clouser with 1/50oz. eyes should be a staple. Chart./white, Pink/white, Gray/white. Fish with a sink-tip. lost at pomme 1
Members Fly Is Life Posted August 29, 2015 Author Members Posted August 29, 2015 Do you think red and white will be ok? That is all i got right now. And i have not fished this lake that much do you know where the old river currant is?
fishinwrench Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Probably be fine. Color does matter to crappie but if Red/white is all you have.....try it. Actually if you have a white bucktail then you have Tan also. . Tan/white would be a solid choice also I'd think. You can also use a Sharpie marker on the white to make just about any color you want. It'll bleed out after a bit but it will work for awhile. The river channel ? Here is a topo map, just Zoom in the area in question. http://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en
fishinwrench Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 There is an old fence row in the back end of Decker that would be a great spot for flyfishing Fall crappie.
kjackson Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 1/50 ounce? Wouldn't bead chain eyes be adequate?
fishinwrench Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I guess, IF they weigh about 1/50 oz. You gotta have some weight to get the jiggy effect I think. Hollow bead chain doesn't have that IMO, but you can certainly try it.
