Vinsott Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Went to my slip around 10pm and fished till around 1am right off of the dock. Tried lures, jigs, minnows and worms. Caught one crappie about 6" and two channel cats. One about 2lbs and the other around 3lbs. I kept one to see how they are for eating. The meat looks pretty good, just have never been a big catfish fan. Never had one out of Beaver. I will post after I eat it tonight. A few boats were out, but not near as many as Friday night.
Vinsott Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 Catfish was pretty good. I would eat it again, but not as good as crappie and walleye. marcus, Dan the fisherman and Blll 3
Dan the fisherman Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Cool.. I catch a few cats during the winter trolling for stripers... I always keep them. I like them as well. Not #1 by any means but good none the less
J-Doc Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I must be picky. I cannot eat a catfish anymore. Not even in restaurants. Once you've had amberjack, grouper, red snapper, crappie, striper.....it just doesn't taste worth eating. And for some reason, walleye has become a bit gamey to me. Don't know why. I used to love it. Must be the last keeper size walleye I had. I haven't seen a keeper sized walleye in a year. Lancer09 1 Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Vinsott Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 I usually would only eat the amberjack smoked. They always seemed to be so loaded with worms. Snook, triple tail, grouper are my favorites.
Champ188 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Walleye gamey? Are you eating the carcass and throwing away the meat?
