Funny....

I grabbed a 1/4lb on my way to the lake Saturday afternoon for spider rigging and couldn't get a bite on live bait. Finally a turtle bit onearly of the baits to let me know my HDS was not telling big fat lies.

I even dropped a live minnow on a single hook to fish below the boat and couldn't get a bite.   Crappie are crazy.  Picky eaters. Eat when they want to.

Well we started after 11am and just trolled around.  It got pretty warm so at one point I cooled off in the lake. I am getting more familiar with my new Lowrance toy but not sure if it is helping me catch any fish. We caught a few small mixed species bass, one 14" spot and low and behold my first keeper walleye of 19". We ate the one bass and the walleye for dinner and my wife liked the bass better??????????????????  Not me but to each their own. Like the other day most fish were caught on the black and silver flicker 7cm.

With the exception of maybe 7 or 8 fish, most of our bites occurred 15'+ below the surface, with some deeper than 20' or so.  Nearly every fish we threw in the livewell just rolled over on its side due to their sudden depth change.  I really need to get a fizzer to let the air out of their swim bladders.

I thought all crappie did that. Must be the depth as you said.
