Garrison's is a campground/canoe rental place about 5 miles below Birds Nest.  It's at mile 55.3.  Carptracker's place is at about mile 61.7, 7.5 miles below Garrison's, and as Carptracker said, Garrison's uses it as the take-out on floats from their place downstream.  The Bluffs is what Ozark Outdoors Campground calls their upstream put-in on the Meramec, and it's at about mile 60.0, approximately 8.5 miles above their place at Onondaga.  

If you want to paddle a johnboat, there is probably enough water to do it.

Birds Nest is just a stone's throw away from Wilderness Lodge. Plenty of accesses and outfitters around to fish the Meramec. Will be somewhat low, but no big deal. Cannot vouch for Birds Nest cabins. Meramec Lodge has rooms, Huzzah Valley about half hour away has cabins, Garrisons 5 miles downstream from Birds Nest has cabins.

Fishing could be iffy this/that time of year.

Magnolia Hollow? Good grief. Surprised some earnest bluegrass band hasn't warbled about it. 

Blood Sweat and Tears?  Now I've heard everything. What is wrong with people?

Thanks joeD. BTW -Magnolia Hollow Conservation Area is a beautiful place in Ste. Genevieve County overlooking the Mississippi River. But like idea - Magnolia Hollow String Band!!

Wondering if enough water to rent a johnboat with my 2.5 HP motor? Or take my canoe? Would like to use the johnboat because just easier on a couple old guys getting in and out.

Yeah, I read up on the bands coming to Wildwood Springs Lodge this fall. Blood, Sweat, and Tears doesn't have one original member, although Bo Bice is lead singer. Scratch that idea! Marshall Tucker - one original member. Poco (two originals) and Ozark Mountain Daredevils (three originals) should be best two shows. Pretty pricey shows (minimum $100) all around to see basically cover bands.
