Billfo Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Hypothetically speaking.. IF you were on Table Rock Lake in the fall & wanted to catch Walleye with an artificial bait, what would you use ? Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
Quillback Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Are you trolling for them? Ned rig was my #1 accidental walleye catcher last year. But that was using it as a casting lure.
Billfo Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Yup, the Ned is pretty versatile ... Will try.. Thanks Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
Hunter91 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Crankbait and swimbaits have worked for me in the past.
Moswimb8slinger Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Jerkbait, under-spin with a swimming fluke jr, flicker shad in natural shad and maybe purple/chartuese shad.
Mitch f Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 In Canada I used a heavy jig head with a Walleye Assassin, I don't even know if they make them anymore. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
rps Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 My second largest walleye this last year came on a Ned rig. I always catch one or two in the Spring on a wiggle wart. I know many catch really good size fish on Feb thru April jerk baits. I have read a number of articles that praise the pink or grey road runner.
Members cmoore03 Posted October 23, 2015 Members Posted October 23, 2015 The old Rebel Tenny R or Deep Wee R, with the orange belly, trolled off pea gravel points, has worked wonders for me over the last 35 years. CM
kjackson Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Back when I lived on the east side of Washington State, I had good luck casting #7 Shad Raps, quarter-ounce Hot Lips and some hard baits that aren't made any more. I've caught quite a few walleyes vertical jigging blade baits like the Heddon Sonar and Gay Blade and others of that type. Blade baits are a big deal in the middle Columbia River early in the year. The guys out there catch real hogs with blades. The big thing in the upper Midwest now is the Jigging Rap. In a couple of reservoirs I fished, I had excellent luck with plain jig heads and a variety of soft plastics--grubs, tubes and my favorite, the ringworm. Having said that, if the walleyes were actively feeding, you could readily catch them without bait. If they were neutral, we'd add a short section of nightcrawler--about an inch long or longer. Scent was necessary most of the time. In the right situation, though, you could catch walleyes rip jigging with plastics alone as it was a reaction bite that would break your wrist if you weren't careful. rps 1
hoglaw Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Before this year i could count the number of walleyes i had caught on one hand. This year im up to my toes, so im doing better but not nearly as knowledgeable as the other posters. I caught a really nice one this spring on a kitech swing impact on a jig head. The others casting flicker shads.
