Lance34 Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I enjoy being on the water this time of year.... Got out today about 11:30 and shut it down about 2:30. Water temp was 68-69 with a stiff wind from the south. Pulled Pearl white and black silver #7 flicker shads between 110ft to 150ft out the side of the boat over main river flats in 15-25 feet of water. Did that until I got too fed up with the wind and went into a creek and played in a lay down with some aggressive little black crappie. Can't seem to find a crappie over 12" in brush piles yet. Everything mostly 9-10". Here some pics. Dan the fisherman and Blll 2

Whites will suspend in open water more often as compared to blacks will hang in brush more. Not saying you won't catch whites in brush either but if trolling open water you are more likely to catch whites than blacks.
Stump bumper Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Look at those huge mouths!!! I bet they are eating all the BASS !!! Have you ever tried crappie fishing on Swepco? A few years ago when it was a dirt ramp I saw some really big stringers out of there. Back then the bass were over crowed and stunned and most of the crappie were larger than the bass. I am curious what the crappie look like now there are fewer and bigger bass in the lake. Dan the fisherman and Lance34 2

Stump bumper Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 If you go back past the water release and drop a jig or minnow next to the trees I have seen days every tree held 10 keepers. I have not seen a stocking report in years for that pond, but they used to put channel cats and crappie in there twice a year. Right across from the ramp there is a point sticking out and a house on the point. There is a deep brush pile on that point and I saw the old guy that lives there catching crappie off that point. I have also seen people crappie fishin at the ramp in the hole on the ramp, used to be a lot of brush there also. The trick to swepco is get in there before it gets cold on a week day. I am going back 5 years ago in my memory, once they started tournaments I quit going. J-Doc and Lance34 2
