I am sorry to report poor results with WP.  These high skies have changed the bite for us and we are finding the fish to be less aggressive. My only recommendation is to go slow and read Bill Bablers recent posts.  Pete Wenners also has a good weekly report on video.

good advice Pepe. This time of year they are up and aggressive or not.Fish what you find.

I can't tell you a lot positive based on my last trip, we did get a few on the Whopper, including a 3 1/4 smallie so it might be worth throwing around early.  If there's some breeze on the banks, a med depth crank like a Wart or 3 DX might get a couple.  Ned rig will also get an occasional bite.

A few of the coves have fish, look for coves with shad.

Next time I go, I'm going to spend some time poking around in deeper water, 20-30 feet, either using a drop shot, spoon or dragging a football jig.

Good luck!

Quillback or any body else throwing a jig, sure would like to have information on your catch.  First part of month couldn't get a jig in the wter without getting bit.  Last week haven't done squat with a jig.  Made adjustments( structure type, color, depth) without luck.  Last one I caught on jig was in 39ft.deep brush pile.  Can't get it figured out!

Last time out, I don't think I got a jig bite either, but I'd still give them a shot.  Might try dragging a FB jig really slow.

We didnt get in the water till about 1:30 pm....ran towards Big M and fished a big cove area, we caught about 8 blacks all undersized of coarse. I caught most of them on a bandit 200 chartreuse rootbeer colored, fish seemed to be holding in 10 to 20 foot of water and they where scattered and no bait fish around. Threw the big whooper plopper the little whooper plopper, threw a wareagle spinner spot remover . Jason threw a buzz bait and several crank baits and caught one black that was 14 inches...it was like they turned on for a minute then turned off...water temp was 65 degrees.

Last couple of weekends we / Champ188 mostly, have tried to force feed them something higher in the water column.  First outing was cloudy and windy.  Following trip was predominantly blue and wind was flaky. Blow awhile and die off and blow some more. Both trips we ended up having to fish a finesse jig to get bit at all and it wasn't a barn burner then.  Crazy.  Today was probably one of the worst days we've had on the Rock for as long as I can remember.  Finally ended up with a dozen or so with two keepers.  The keepers were quality, though.  Spot 2-1/2 lbs and a bonus LM 3-1/2lbs. Caught the crap out of goggle-eye, one with a keeper bass nipping at his tail.  Lol

Fished last weekend out of Emerald Beach. Cought several drop shotting an area in 28 ft of water. But most of our fish came on a small jerk bait in the backs of coves with bait fish. Nothing big, maybe 2 keepers but we had fun. Had a mix of lm, sm and spots. Any time they busted the surface we would throw in there and catch one. Had a fun day.
