Looking to head down to RR this Saturday.  Birthday weekend and the wife is letting me sneak out for a few hours for my "present" ha...I know we had some really good rains this week but also know there are few days till the weekend yet. Is the river looking in alright shape? From what I read C&R opening went really well. Hopefully keep that going. Thanks for any info and advice.

Thanks

I forget.  Do you have to have a daily park permit to fish during Catch and Release?

Tim, Thanks for the picture. Will your shop be open tomorrow? I believe Ill be heading down tomorrow afternoon rather than Saturday morning.

DaddyO - I do not believe that is a requirement. I cant recall 100% so maybe wrong. Ill for sure know tomorrow, haha!

Nope. Just a license and trout stamp.

This is my first year to find out about c&r at roaring river. I've been to the park twice and it was shoulder to shoulder with people fishing. An elderly lady literally casted over my fly line.  That being said, as a not so good fly fisherman trying to teach my old lady to fish I thought this place will be perfect. If the visitor center where I bought my tags and thing I had to pin visibly on is closed, where would an Arkansan hurting from a blocked field goal go to get fixed up to fish on a Monday at RR? Thanks for any help

Walmart in Cassville for license and trout tag, is only 10 minutes or so from Roaring River. I would also rather go to RR in the catch and release season yself , since the mob is considerably thinned out.  You might also try calling Tims' Fly Shop at RR. I'm not sure of his hours this time of year, but you could the latest scuttlebutt on RR from Tim.  I don't know what changed this forum, but I had to re-register....I had been a regular here for a number of years under WB4TJH. It hacked me off when I could not get on the forum with my old ID or passwordl

Had a decent day Friday, wasn't too busy and caught a few fish. Had a lot of trout nose up to a megaworm, Beetle, and Ant. Ones that I hooked came on a small black/yellow jig (some sight some under indicator).

Didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked but still had a good time.

Catch and release is the best time down there. I had several days close to thirty or forty last winter. I even caught a twenty inch Brown . My personal best. I think Tim is only there on Friday and Saturday if memory serves. Its a bummer that there aren't any other fly shops down there open this time of year.

Coming up from Arkansas you can buy fishing license and trout permit at the little store/ gas station on the north end of Seligman.
