hank franklin Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 The federal ONSR website doesn't have any info on Parker Hollow. Is there a campground? Parking? Any info appreciated.
jdmidwest Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Parker Hollow has parking by the river, and the camping is like anything else in the Scenic Riverways. Gravel bars, river banks are fair game. It is a non improved site, primitive camping except for a few interpretive signs. Long gravel road that can be rough at times. Gavin Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 You can camp there, theres a little metal fire ring right by the access. The downside is that its accessable by road and it gets a lot of traffic from fisherman, campers, and horse people. I've seen at least 25-30 horses and riders down there on occasion. You can camp there, but you'd be better off camping someplace else. . Cheers.
brittsnbirds Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 I informally camped there last summer. My fuel pump went out on my truck one evening. I was there fishing and the pump decided not to work. I ended up walking all the way out to the blacktop. There is definitely a place to tent camp. There is room on the sandbar, unless the water is up. There is also room in the timber. Looks like the 4 wheelers have been in there a lot. I doubt you can get a popup in there unless it is one for off road.
Gene K Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I'm very familiar with the area, and there's a few options: You can get a pop-up in there, and more. At the bottom of the hill, if you go left toward the Schafer spring creek, there are a few spots. I have even seen some mid-size RV's on the river bank. Just about any vehicle can cross the Schafer spring creek near the river, but you can get stuck in the sandy soil near the river if you aren't careful. I have pulled out more than a few. As somone else mentioned, there is a small spot on the right side access also. But that's where a lot of fisherman park. You also have the Pine Crest campground on YY right near CR652 as an option.
