Members KC Steve Posted December 8, 2015 Members Posted December 8, 2015 Anyone out there have much success with drop shotting on Pomme. Been reading about it and watching the fishing shows and it seems pretty popular. I've never tried it and would love to hear if anyone has had success with doing it . Thanks!
Old plug Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 There are differ t ways to drop shot. Are you talking about traditional small type are heavy stuff.
Old plug Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Should be some of these boys on here from down on Table Rock can help you. I only fish the heavy stuff on LOZ and it is about the same construction as the regular way but the bait, line and weight are a lot larger. I can assure you it will catch fish.
DChance Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 old plug you fish that in the same areas you might fish a traditional texas rig on LOZ? only problem I see is it won't skip very well.
Old plug Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I fish it on 12 lb test with 0/4 hooks and stuff like giant trick worms. I fist it mostly around docks. I might flip it a bit now and then but mostly it is just strait down depth varies Mostly between 10-30 ft. i DChance 1
Members KC Steve Posted December 14, 2015 Author Members Posted December 14, 2015 How about spots to fish around the Nemo camping area? That's where we spend most of our time at Pomme....anyone have some good bass and crappie spots to share?
Members Conman64 Posted December 27, 2015 Members Posted December 27, 2015 Steve, did you ever get out and give it a try? I am also very interested in getting into this method.
Ketchup Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Drop shotting, like most styles of fishing, have its time and place. I fish Pomme alot, and have 18 years. I catch fish in the same places that i would on any other lake using that technique. One of my favorites, since im not a deep water guy, is to fish it around docks, starting on the outter deep water edge, working my way shallow. Another is to find a brushpile and work around it. Tho i dont fish it as much as the jig, crank, or C-Rig, there have been days when it was all they wanted. I fish it on 6 or 8lb line on a spinning reel with a 6'6 or 7' rod. Presentation and how long to leave it sit will be dependant on the fish. As far as fishing around Nemo, you will be within a 15 minute boat ride to some good fish at any time of the year. I am careful about where I put it down around docks. I carry it and a regular rigged wirm with me. The drop shot is a hairy thing to drop round brush. I get picky about my weight on texas rig. I go all the down to nothing even on 10"+ worms. With the drop shot the bite seems to come very fast most times. With the texas rig you might fall sleep waiting for me to get it retrieved.
