polock Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 ok, a couple years ago when i bought the digital camera i have now, (back when 5megapixel were the best) i bought a pentax optio w camera.. it is the one that is waterproof up to 10m or something like that.. well the only problem is it has horrible picture lag.. you hit the button and it takes about 3 seconds before the pic takes even after you semi press the button for the light meter. i am looking for a 5-7ish megapixel digital camera with no pic lag and adjustable exposures.. that is another thing i hate about my pentax, lots and lots of blurry pics due to long exposure time.. so please any reviews you could give would be helpful in helping me find a better cam. not looking to break the bank, just something that when my daughter smiles i can catch it before she looks away.
Randall Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 i have a nikon coolpix l3. i think i dropped it one too many times b/c it takes forever to recharge after a flash-- didn't use to, and i'm starting to notice a short lag time. its a 5.1 megapixel, 3x zoom, with adjustable exposure time. it has a macro-closeup option, and plenty of other neat features. sams club let me trade it straight up for a pentax that got screwy and erased all my spring break pics the day before we came home. i think the actual price was reasonable though. your best bet is to go to electronics stores that have display models out and find one you like for your price range. Cute animals taste better.
Members drbewley Posted February 19, 2007 Members Posted February 19, 2007 I got one of these this past December. So far I really like it. http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/...sp?product=1225
Gavin Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I havent had a problem with my Pentax Optio. Might check the mode your shooting in and stay out of the digital zoom. You get lots of blurry pictures with digital zoom. You get better pictures without focusing in so tight with digital zoom, but youll have to crop the picture later with your camera software. The next step up would be a digital SLR. The Canon Dig Rebel is a nice camera, so are the Nikon D series of cameras. Cheers.
Don Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 DrBewley, I researched the same camera (Olympus) a few weeks ago and I'm convinced it is a good outdoor camera. I'm also concerned about the quality of pictures taken indoors with flash. Your experiences? Thanks, Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 19, 2007 Root Admin Posted February 19, 2007 I have a Pentax Optio W20. Waterproof to 5 feet. I like it.

It has a videotape feature I didn't know about when I bought it. I did use that feature in the house during Christmas and the video turned out good as far as I'm concerned. I'm not really into photography so I'm probably pretty easy to please.
