Members shortfish Posted February 20, 2007 Members Posted February 20, 2007 I am wanting to know how the boat ramp is near bennett. Also, how deep the river is? I am wanting to run my flat bottom boat right below Bennett and fish for some trout and small mouth. Thank you
fishinwrench Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 It's a good ramp (concrete). You'll have water from 5ft. to 0ft. Not the place for prop outboards. For the most part the Niangua is a "canoe/wading river", it can be floated in a jon just fine but you'll tear stuff up if you try to motor back upstream very far.
Members riverdoc Posted February 26, 2007 Members Posted February 26, 2007 good ramp, concrete at bennet and below accross bridge and right to public use area . . no props. good small mouth above bennett ...browns and rainbow below. . . try minnows. good luck
Al Agnew Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Like the others said, the Niangua is not a river for props. And there is not much jetboat use in that area, either. Right now, the river is up some, but normal level at this time of year is about 150 cfs below Bennett Spring, and MUCH less than that above the spring. I've found that if a river's normal flow is less than about 250-300 cfs, it can be pretty skinny water even for jetboats. If you know a river well, you can run it at less than 250 cfs in a well set up jetboat, but you're taking a chance of sucking lots of gravel and tearing up your motor.
