arsenal1477 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Alright, so after reading a few discussions on tying jigs with hair I decided to try my hand at it. The pictures below are of the first two I have ever done. Any tips or color suggestions for Table Rock(month of April) would be greatly appreciated. I will primarily being jigging at night, but I can't rule out during the day as well. Thanks.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Nothing wrong with either of those. GP/orange is hard to beat for daytime, anything black at night. Like the hackle as an accent color.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Make sure you seal your thread wrap. Fly cement or just some epoxy.
merc1997 Bo Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 i see nothing wrong with either one of those. i think they will catch 'em. bo
mjk86 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Those are awesome!! Def gonna work for you. The nutech jigs are good too. I did the same thing with hair from some squirrels I shot. Those have caught a few, so I'm sure yours will as they look even better! What kind of hair is that?
arsenal1477 Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 Thank you for the compliments, guys. With the amount of experience on this forum those are taken to heart. I must admit, though, however, patience is a virtue when first starting out and tying them is not ideal for the OCD. With regards to the material, the day time jig is olive hackle wrapped around the base for mass, orange maribu and brown buck-tail. The night jig is blue hackle wrapped around the base for mass, black and blue buck-tail with black glitter finish. Both jigs had a base layer with a drop of locktite, finished off with whip finishes and coated in Daves Flexament. Merc- Credit to you and some of your posts on hair jigs. You started a creative urge. Didn't you mention something about brown/blue being a solid go to in April? Thanks again. dtrs5kprs 1
