I was on the Osage yesterday above Osceola is that far enough West? Water temps were in the 60 to 62 degree range and the bite was S L O W most of the fish that we caught were out in 10' of water close to the bottom it doesn't look like the spawn is any where close? I'm sure that the wind didn't help any!

Crappie on on the banks on the upper ends anyway.  Males with tails getting ragged, females with eggs that would squirt out with a little extra pressure.  No secret spots, work the shoreline in spawning areas, seemed to be around trees with 6 feet of bank most all day.  Jig color didn't matter just take plenty since it is truman, a jig eating lake if there ever was one.  Wind made for some tricky casting as it rolled around the points and into the coves, wind sent a few casts way off costing me yet another jig.  Oh I have plenty and a big bowl of fillets.  Water temp was around 58 to 61.

I put in at Bucksaw this morning myself and fishing buddy managed two limits some places the crappie are right on the banks and in some creek arms they are still holding out a little ways but close. The water temps were in the 61.5 to 62 degree range black and chartreuse was the best color today on a 1/16 oz. jig head fished s l o w.

if ya need to fish a jig slow, try using a bobber above your jig.....my buddies laugh at me when I put on a bobber but they all want to borrow one by the end

Never been to truman but the wife and I thought about heading up there today.  Any advice on where to put in?  Best area for crappie right now?   Would be coming from Springfield.

The whole lake should be HOT right now! So pick a spot and go! The upper end may be slowing down a little but anywhere mid lake to lower lake should work just fine. Go about half way back into any of the creeks and start fishing to the very end look for pea gravel. If that creek doesn't work jump over to the next one some have more fish than others. Good Luck!

Fished on Saturday around Long Shoals.  We brought home 20 crappie, everyone a male.  They weren't very black.  They were very scattered.  Water temps were 63.5 to start the day around 7:30 am, and 67.5 when we got off the water at 3.  Everything came on a 1/16th ounce white grub.   Total fish caught for the day was between 50 and 60 with all of the short crappie, white bass,  bluegill, and even 1 channel cat.
