Hows Fishing??

Anyone been over to the pits lately? How is fishing. Taking my daughter tonight.

I haven't fished the public pits for a good while but I've been killing the bass and crappie in private pits recently. One day it's a huge stringer of crappie and the next day bass. It's been a blast so far this year.

Unfortunately we didn't catch any crappie. However, my daughter caught all she could handle. We were trying to get into some crappie, but got into some big bluegill and small bass instead. Boy did she have fun. She used a bobber and minnow set at about 3-4 feet deep. She was actually catching so many that between taking fish off and baiting line, didn't have much time to fish myself. We fished in area 22.  We took home the 7 biggest Bluegill and 2 small bass and cleaned them.

Went to Big Brutis pit on Friday. Caught 14 crappie almost right on the bank. Maybe 2 ft deep. All but 2 were male. Caught them on minnows and white marabou jigs. They were biting best right before dark.

That's good to hear. Most of the crappie I've got have been female out from the bank but I've also done more fishing midday rather than evening or early morning. I didn't get to fish this past week once (I normally average 3 days a week). I don't know what this rain has done to em but the temps. are gonna be rising and I would bet they will be spawning by Sunday.
