Members wmander Posted April 14, 2016 Members Posted April 14, 2016 Not a report (but fishing has been great) but a cool new product you guys may be interested in. Got the new Amphibia eyewear line available at Springdale Vision Clinic. These things are straight awesome- by the way, they float! All lenses are polarized, hydrophobic(water repelling), and anti-fog. These frames are Z87 safety rated so a good treble hook to the face should be good. I can put your glasses RX in them with or without the bifocal, lots of color & coatings available. Mirror coating is hard to beat on the water. If you don't have a current RX, we can check it. Anyway, I'm a diehard fishermen as well & thought I'd pass it along. Nothing like a nice pair of sunglasses when you're fishing all day. amphibiaeyegear.com shark bait, Green236 and J-Doc 3
J-Doc Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Sounds like a nice deal. Might have to get some of those soon. What's the rough cost range on RX glasses? (rough ballpark.....like $50, $100, $150, $200?) Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Members wmander Posted April 14, 2016 Author Members Posted April 14, 2016 I think base price is $100-200 depending on model. Little extra for custom RX, bifocal if needed, & coatings you prefer. Never liked sunglass straps or croakies. Just always got in my way. Tired of loosing all my good sunglasses in the lake & rivers. Problem solved with these dudes. Also, I carry Wiley X with foam inserts if that's your flavor.
hoglaw Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I wear wiley x rx sunglasses. Used to sear Oakleys. I love my current pair but don't use the foam insert. It would probably be cool for running the white river on a below freezing morning. I'll have to check yours out when I'm ready for a new pair in another year or so. Glad to hear you say they have color choices. I wear mine all the time and I'm not so sure about white.
bluebasser86 Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Do they come in large sizes for those of us that are gifted with XL sized noggins?
Stump bumper Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I am one off those guys that like glasses over my glasses, blocks the wind better and and I can get rid of the shades or put them back on without looking to see where I put the other pair.
MOPanfisher Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I am still wearing a 10 yr old pair of oakleys, only glasses I have ever given over 20 bucks for. Replaced the lenses once due to them having a rough life. I also have a pair of Berkley with the reading lens I use a lot. Can tie a new jig on without digging out my readers. But they make the floor of the boat a little out of focus when you look down, takes some getting used to.

But if you hold your head right it adds 5 lbs to every fish you catch. MOPanfisher and shark bait 2
Members wmander Posted April 19, 2016 Author Members Posted April 19, 2016 That's funny stump! I generally put the bifocal as low in the frame as possible-sometimes even on the side like a golfers bifocal. Helps with the optics in a wrap around frame too.

I currently use bifocal sunglasses on the water but would rather have progressive.
