trapshot25 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Had a small club tournament on sat and Buddy on Sunday, water temps were 59 morning to 63 in afternoon fished little sac from maze creek to swim beach cove on Saturday , mid lake on big sac Sunday mostly old state park to mutton creek. Fishing was tough for keepers but ton of short fish. Mostly threw split shot rig with pumpkin or green pumpkin lizards. Tried spinner bait on Sunday on windy banks nothing. Did see any worn tails on the males and no beds that I could tell. Most of the fish came in backs of smaller cuts and coves. My partner on Saturday was first out of the money while I only put 2 on the scales. Least he enjoyed his day. Had him laughing when he talked about all the 14 to 14 7/8 fish and how next year should be good on the lake. Explained that MDC had genetically engineered the bass to only grow to 1/8 below 15 inch. Had good laugh but sometimes I wonder why year in and out we catch more. Sub 15 inch. Fish you would think the overall size of the fish would get bigger as years classes grow. blacknoseddace, dprice and dan hufferd 3
blacknoseddace Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I've been catching those 14 7/8 inch fish too. The keepers I have caught were on a spinnerbait, slow rolling or stopping it and letting it drop in 8 to 10 feet of water. I have been using a trailer hook too because of short strikes. bassfisher, dan hufferd and trapshot25 3
Members chomper Posted April 25, 2016 Members Posted April 25, 2016 Fished Saturday and found it to have really changed since last week. Fish were not as prevalent on the same banks and if any thing had moved out a little deeper. Still a shakeyhead bite for me though. blacknoseddace 1
Members Willyh08 Posted April 26, 2016 Members Posted April 26, 2016 we also had a club tx Saturday & Sunday. Lots of keeper fish on wacky rigs, , Neds, spinnerbaits, Warts, almost everything you could throw. 6+ was the biggest one caught the first day, along with lots of 14" fish. I had a bit over 12 lbs for 3rd place. Sunday was much tougher due to the wind. Same places we caught fish on Saturday were too exposed to fish Sunday. Still managed 3 keepers though. Beds were everywhere we stopped, mostly half way back in the smaller cuts in Little Sac, blacknoseddace 1
