Got on the water about 8:30 am and off at 6:00 pm.  Water temps were 67.5 to start the day and were just over 70 when we got off.  Put in at Orleans Trail but headed up the Big Sac almost to Mutton. We ended up with 71 total fish with 11 of them being keeper bass.  Nothing over 17 inch.  Fish were caught anywhere from 3 feet to 12 feet of water.  Gravel was the best.  Only fished the ned rig in green pumpkin.  I caught a 14 1/2 largemouth on my very 1st cast and my son caught a 16 1/2 largemouth on his very 1st cast.  Great way to start.  The 70th fish caught was by me and it was a 10 lb carp.  There was NO way I was ending the day on a carp so we kept fishing until I caught a bass.  It just happened to be the biggest of the day, a 17 incher..

That's a great day. We put in at Ruark at 2:30 and fished til 5:30 and caught 1 bass and 1 crappie.  Hope my tourney there next Sat. Produces more for me than that. But we did stay out of areas I would have normally fished due to having our little guy in the boat with us.   Got a few laughs at watching those that only get their boats out twice a year at the ramp tho.

Last year was the same way.  Then June hits and I struggle to find them.  I suppose they move out to off shore structure, or another theory I have is that they are out cruising the lake following the shad.  Either way, the quality and quantity drops like a rock.  But I sure do like looking for them!  :D

I should have fished the ned more I guess!  I fought them on a little bit of everything Saturday and Sunday, I probably liked the Carolina rigged lizard the best.  About the only thing I couldn't catch them in was a jig but they'd probably seen a bunch of those. Lots of people fishing last weekend.

Wanted to add that most bassers I saw seemed to be fishing the brush on shore. Did anyone catch any on this pattern?

Fished both days as well and the Friday Nighter too.  Fish were up shallow in the bushes early and in the evening....caught them on topwater in front of the bushes.  On Saturday i stayed away from the bushes and focused out in 10-15 fow.  Sunday morning caught some on a bladed jig in front of the bushes and happened to be in a pocket that had some bushes with 2-3 fow in them and started to flip them and caught some 14" fish...fished the flat side of the pocket and caught keepers right on the bank around some laydowns...soon as the bladed jig hit the water they were on it...didn't last long but fun for a hour or so.  All main lake pockets from darn to state park marina
