So we are coming down from Iowa for a family vacation for the entire week next week.  We are looking to get on some Missouri Walleye for a change.  We are staying in a cabin on the north side outside Stockton.  I am new to this site , but this forum seems to very helpful which is nice to see.  Is there any baitshops in Stockton?  Grocery Store?  Where can a guy get 91% Octane boat fuel?  I plan on finding some rocky points and try different depths but does this lake have any large mud flats for the hot days?  Which public boat ramp is good to use on the west side to get to the south and North side of the lake to find fish?  Are the public ramps free of charge?  Are there any fishing regs for 2 or 3 hook crawler harnesses?  Any help would be much appreciated

I'll try to answer  you questions Hermy, I'm kind of a tourist at Stockton as well but I go there pretty often. The locals may be able to better answer. There is a bait shop called Happy Hook on highway 32 on the east side of town before you get to the road over the dam. There is a large "Woods" grocery store at the corner of Hwy 39 and RB Road on the south side of town. They have crawlers there too. I believe every gas station in town has 91 octane fuel. All of the ramps on Stockton are real nice. The closest free ramps to you will be Hartley and State Park Marina. Their entrances are across the road from each other on Hwy 215 a couple of miles east of the mile long bridge. The Corps of Engineers ramps charge $5.00 a day or you can buy a pass for $40.00, I believe. I'm sure others will chime in, I have to go to work will try to add more tonight if all hasn't been answered by then. Good luck and have fun. Here's a link to a lake map. http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Portals/29/docs/lakesites/stockton/2011BrochureST9-7.pdf

If you are staying north of Stockton the closest free ramp is at Orleans Trail Marina.  the town of Stockton has everything you will need from groceries to gas to Smoothies at the Emporium on the square.  Several restaurants as well.  If you venture toward the south end of the lake to put in stop at Ken's cafe in Arcola for breakfast.  A little spot that has awesome food, big helpings, all at a decent price.  Enjoy your stay at Stockton lake, Missouri's little piece of heaven.

FYI... to get to Hartley & State Park Marina, the town of Stockton, you will have to drive completely around the lake,,

The 215 bridge is closed for repairs until about Labor Day.....

Oh yeah thanks for the information boys.  I have the lakemaster chip so I should be able to find some flats and submerged points.  I have some spots in mind just looking on google earth but man this lake looks big especially on a windy day.  I plan on just using the new Orleans trail boat ramp then.  Thanks for the bridge construction info, that good to know.  Lets hope we are able to a net wet.  Thanks for the information again, its much appreciated.

Orleans Trail marina has bait as do all of the marinas on the lake. Don't think they will have 91 octane gas though. Just curious, what made you decide on Stockton? If you're looking for walleye then Bull Shoals has a rep for big ones. Does Stockton have a walleye rep now?

BTW, my son lives and works in Council Bluff, how far is that from you?

Thanks for the info.  Good question on why Stockton.  I have been keeping an eye on it recently due to the stocking numbers from the state.  I haven't fished Mozingo yet in NW Mo but will as well at some point.  I am not really after size but decent quantity.  If I want size I go to Sturgeon Bay, Lake Erie, or the Dakota's (back where I was raised).  I enjoy catching large quantity of eaters as well as keeping my kids busy fishing.  My wife is from Kirksville and has a lot of family in Joplin so we are going to see some family down there as well. The real question is will there be fish willing to bite?  If so where are they?  Council Bluffs is 2 hrs West of me
